Seminole County Performing Arts to Mount PHANTOM OF THE OPERA
LAKE MARY, FL. For the first time since it’s Broadway closing, Seminole County Performing Arts Summer Theatre, the collaborative Summer Stock Theatre program for Seminole County students past and present (ages 14-22), will present The Phantom of the Opera, Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, Lyrics by Charles Hart, Additional Lyrics by Richard Stilgoe, Book by Richard Stilgoe & Andrew Lloyd Webber, and Based on the novel “Le Fantôme de I’Opéra” by Gaston Leroux. Performances run June 23, 24, 30, July 1 at 7pm, and June 25 and July 2 at 2pm, in the Lake Mary High School Auditorium: 655 Longwood Lake Mary Rd, Lake Mary, FL 32746. This is the Theatre Company’s third summer project, performed entirely by students, and led by Producing Director, Trevor Southworth (Lake Mary High School), Technical Director/Marketing Manager, Susan M. Gerdeman (Lyman High School), and Lighting & Sound Designer, Jamaal Solomon (Hagerty High School).

The Phantom of the Opera tells the story of a masked figure who lurks beneath the catacombs of the Paris Opera House, exercising a reign of terror over all who inhabit it. He falls madly in love with an innocent young soprano, Christine, and devotes himself to creating a new star by nurturing her extraordinary talents and by employing all of the devious methods at his command.
